Preschool Playday
Preschoolers, bring your favorite adult to Preschool Playday at the Hastings Museum on the second Saturday
of September, October, January, February, March and April. Preschool Playday starts at 10:00 a.m., and lasts
about 45 minutes.
Regular museum admission or museum membership covers the cost of Preschool Playday. Reservations are requested by
Friday for the Saturday program. For more information or to make reservations, please contact

September 12, 2009 -- Buggy about Bugs
Creepy, crawly critters come alive at the Hastings Museum's Playday with a hands-on learning experience all about Bugs!
October 10, 2009 -- Shake, Rattle & Roll
It's Nebraska's marching band season! Let's make our own instruments and march in the Hastings Museum's Playday Band.
January 9, 2010 -- Junior Geologist
Dress up in hard hats and goggles. Grab a flashlight and off we go through the museum in search of native rocks and minerals, some even glow! Learn how rocks and minerals are different, pan for gold like the 49ers, play with rocks that really float and make your very own rock collection.
February 13, 2010 -- Friends of a Feather
Let's flock together and learn about our feathered friends. Can you solve the riddle "What makes a bird a bird?" Bird calls, fancy dances, eggs large and small, pointed beaks and webbed feet, we'll learn it all!
March 13, 2010 -- Magnetic Magic
Can you make things move without touching them? Magicians can and you can too, using a magnetic field. Let's have fun exploring the magic of magnets as we play and experiment.
April 10, 2010 -- Wagons Ho!
If we want to cross the Rockies before the snow falls, then April's the time to set out across the Oregon Trail. Children will follow their wagon master, along this historic path through Nebraska, dressed as pioneers. They'll load their wagons, camp and make a keepsake of their adventure along the trail. Wagons Ho!
There will be no Preschool Playday during May, June, July and August due to SummerFun. Preschool Playday will return in the Fall.
