Sign-up for Festival of Trees & Wreath the Rewards
The air conditioner is humming away, the temperature is high and the sun just keeps beating down. Its days like this that our thoughts turn to Christmas. Christmas? You bet! Now’s the time to start thinking about the Annual Festival of Trees at the Hastings Museum! Very soon information will be sent to past participants in preparation for the Tree Decorating Party, November 21. For 27 years, area clubs and community groups have brightened the museum with beautiful Christmas trees during the annual Festival of Trees. This event allows various non-profit youth and adult clubs to showcase their organization with decorations that reflect the purpose of the club. Each tree is distinctive and exciting. Who knows, you may get an idea for decorating your own Christmas tree. New this year, area for-profit businesses can help decorate the museum for the festive season with a wreath. Businesses may adorn their wreaths in traditional decorations or ones that highlight their business to be displayed at the museum for just $50. One business, Ellis Disposal, has already signed on to kick off the event with their wreath adaptation, decorated with the fruit of their labor. Each wreath will be identified with a label, provided by the museum, containing the name of the business and its owner(s). Visitors may vote on their favorite wreath and the winning business will receive a family packet (4) of passes to the museum and Lied Super Screen Theatre. “This is an excellent way for area clubs and community groups, as well as local area businesses, to show off what they do all year long,” said museum curator Teresa Kreutzer-Hodson. “It is always fun to see the inventive ways the trees and wreaths can be decorated.” If your group would like to participate, has decorated in the past and does not receive information or you would like more information about participating in the tree decorating party, please contact Teresa Kreutzer-Hodson. The trees and wreaths will be on display November 21 through January 1, 2010. Mark your calendars and plan to visit the museum during this year’s festival. It is sure to put you in the holiday spirit! DownloadDocuments are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
