Even though we have had more than our share of very hot days this summer, it is time once again to begin thinking about the Festival of Trees at the Museum. Very soon information will be sent to past participants in preparation for the Tree Decorating Party, November 17.

For 25 years, area clubs and community groups have brightened the museum with beautiful Christmas trees during the annual Festival of Trees. This event allows the various youth and adult clubs to showcase their organization with tree decorations of their choice that reflect the purpose of the club. Each tree is distinctive and exciting to see, and who knows, you may get an idea for decorating your own Christmas tree.

“With the Ride ‘Em Cowboy exhibit and the large-format film, Ride Around the World, we’d really love to see a lot of the trees take on a cowboy theme this year, although it’s not a requirement.” said museum curator Teresa Kreutzer-Hodson.

If your group would like to participate, has decorated in the past and does not receive information or you would like more information about participating in the tree decorating party, please contact Teresa Kreutzer-Hodson at 402-461-4629 ext 1222 for more information. Sign-up deadline is November 9. The trees will be on display November 17 through January 1, 2008. Mark your calendars and plan to visit the Museum during this year’s festival. It is sure to put you in the holiday spirit!
