Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West
"Lewis & Clark" Return To Lied Super Screen TheatreWith sweeping panoramas of the rugged American West and stunning aerial photography, one of the greatest adventures in American history comes to life in Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West, returning to the Lied Super Screen Theatre. "Lewis & Clark was one of our most popular films ever and we knew we had to get it back when it left in June," said Museum Director Terry Hunter. "It was especially important to get it back for school groups as teachers raved about how well it fit their curriculum bringing to life such an important story in American history." Two-hundred-years ago, Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery undertook a perilous journey on the first overland expedition to the Pacific Ocean and back. The film tells the story of the team's arduous expedition from 1803 to 1806, the spectacular wildlife they encountered, the punishing winters they endured, the diverse Native American tribes they met and the breathtaking vistas the explorers experienced on their legendary journey into uncharted territory. "This is an incredible story of the American experience," says Lisa Truitt, executive producer. "What Lewis and Clark accomplished was an extraordinary feat of fortitude and luck. They had no solid knowledge about the land they were going to traverse and they faced unbelievable danger with tremendous courage. Historians say that their journey was our equivalent of a trip to the moon." Schedule is subject to change. |
